What is a typical day in your life? Ideally
I wake up at 4:30, get ready for work, and wake
Aidan up at 5:15 to change and feed him. My husband
goes to work around 2am so he is typically gone at
this time. I drive from Mesquite to Frisco and I
drop him off at the preschool around 6:30. I then go
to work by the Galleria and work until 5 when I make
the drive to pick him back up and head home to
Mesquite. All day I average about 3 hours in the
car! Thank God he falls asleep when we start
moving. When Aidan and I arrive home if he is still
asleep, I wash his bottles, do housework, cook
dinner, take a shower, and prepare as much as I can
for the following day. When he wakes up from the
ride home, we play with his toys and work on tummy
time. My husband gets home from class around
10 and gives Aidan his bath and we all try to be in
bed by 11 so we are ready for the next day.

What advice can
you give to moms who are juggling this much or more?
Take it one day at a time. There are so many days
that I think that I will not make it because I'm so
exhausted or he is being so fussy. Thankfully I have
a great support system with my husband, my family,
and friends. When I start feeling sorry for myself I
just think about all the moms that have it much
worse than I do and that I need to be thankful for
what I do have and not what I don't have.
MB - What do you like
to do when you have "adult only" time?
Ha Ha! My husband and I go out to eat with friends
or occasionally he will watch Aidan so I can spend
time with my girlfriends.

What is your most memorable moment of becoming a
mom?
The day we brought Aidan home from the hospital. He
was in the NICU 11 days after he was born so the
best part was finally being able to bring home my
baby. However, I marvel everyday at how much he has
changed from the day before.

What
is the best advice you received about being a mom or
raising a child?
Sleep when he sleeps.
Especially in the first month, don't worry about
housework or anything else except for bonding with
your baby. Also, Aidan had colic bad, and when I
thought I couldn't take it anymore I would lay him
in his bassinet and go outside to make a phone call
or just enjoy the silence. He was going to scream
and cry regardless but I needed to recharge.
MB - If you could give
another mom or expectant mom one piece of advice,
what would it be?
Every mom tells you that it's the hardest job and
that you need to stock up on your sleep, but when
you don't have a child you don't understand. I would
let all expectant mothers know that it is the
hardest thing you have ever done but definitely
worth it!

What are your favorite "Mom Essentials" and why?
Aidan suffers from acid reflux so we go through tons
of burp cloths. Also, he has been sick lately and
the Bebe Sounds battery operated aspirator is the
best invention ever!

Do you have a motto you would like to share with
other moms?
Remember that God never
gives you more than you can handle.

What is your favorite MetroMoms event to date?
They are all so much fun
and informative but of course the best one is
the Best & Hottest Products!
