Orbit Baby

What people are saying about the Orbit Infant System…

Orbit is my favorite. You can use it as a car seat and a stroller so you never have to take the baby out. Then when the baby gets bigger you can put a toddler seat in. It's also eco-friendly.

Jessica Alba, model/actress and mother of Honor, FitPregnancy.com

The Orbit Stroller. It's the best thing since sliced bread, because it's so functional. It turns 360˚, it's portable, and as a car seat it's very secure in the car.

Tori Spelling, actress and mother of two, when asked by People.com to list her infant and child essentials.

July 2010 Featured MetroMom

MetroMom Melissa Stanchock
How med student turned mom of three turned Design Principal/Co-Founder of Boon, Rebecca Finell, takes it one day at a time as she balances work and motherhood.

MM - How did your life change when you became a mom?

How didn’t it change would be an easier question to ask! My focus shifted to Ryann, my first born, and everything she needed. I learned how much focus and work was involved in raising a baby, and how much I loved every minute of it!

MM - What has been your most memorable moment (s) as a mom?

I think the best moments are when I see all three of my kids (Ryann, Vivian and Luke) enjoying life together. I remember when I brought Luke home for the first time. My girls were so excited yet very gentle with him. I live for those moments.

MM - What has been the biggest challenge for you in motherhood?

Patience. I continually have to remind myself to be patient with the everyday issues. And they are the same issues everyday! I spend my days with people who are efficient and focused. When I get home, I sometimes find it hard to gear down.

MM - Boon is a phenomenal company - What inspired you to start the company?

Thank you. My inspiration was the lack of modern, well designed products available to me when I was pregnant with my first baby. I shopped everywhere, but I couldn’t find a thing that would fit into my modern home. I did without several necessary items simply because I didn’t want to look at them! As my wish list grew, I soon realized that I could create the sleek and functional products I had been searching for.

MM - All of the Boon products are extremely innovative. How do you develop the ideas for the different products?

Most of the ideas are just things that I came up with while being mom. There are so many obvious needs that can be identified as you go about your day. The Frog Pod, Animal Bag, and Squirt are good examples of these. Sometimes it is simply taking a fresh look at an old solution like the high chair. Why are they so hard to clean and adjust?

MM - Which Boon product is your favorite?

This is like asking me which kid I like the most. I love Stash because it organizes any little pile of stuff in style. I have it everywhere- at my desk, in my bathroom drawers, in the garage, in my kids craft space, etc. I love the Flair high chair because it solved all of the issues that I had with high chairs and it looks beautiful in my dining room. I’ll stop there.

MM - How do you manage your career while being a mother and a wife?

This is my daily battle. Having a Mr. Mom certainly helps! My husband and I decided before starting Boon that he would be home with the kids. It was the only way that I could feel ok about going to work. He is the most patient, kind, selfless person that I know. I am certain that my children are smart and kind people because of his example. I actually thought that I would have more time with the kids, but I now know how time consuming a business can be. There are definitely days where I have to get things done at work, but I try to balance those with quality time with the family. My advice for moms would be- don’t expect perfect balance all of the time. It doesn’t happen. And if someone tells you it does…they are lying!

MM - What types of activities do you like to do with your kids?

We love to ride bikes together, hike, vacation anywhere, picnic in the family room on Friday nights while watching a movie, wrestling, and doing anything with paint, clay, or crayons.

MM - If you could give another mom or expectant mom one piece of advice, what would it be?

Enjoy your children. They are what life is all about. And buy Boon products because they rock!
