MM - How did your life change when you became a mom?
When I became a mom, I felt like I was thrown into this unknown world. There are no books that could completely prepare you for motherhood. So, I had to somewhat lay aside that part of myself that wanted to know and be prepared for everything ahead. I learned to relax a little and take one day at a time.
MM - How did you come up with the idea for Baby's Bundle?
My husband and I had both just left six figure jobs at a very young age to start our own real estate business. We encountered an unexpected pregnancy and very unforeseen financial difficulties. Luckily I had great friends that threw me a baby shower. Although I did get a lot, there were lots of things I still needed and just did not have the money to buy. It was very stressful and painful to try to figure out how to get everything we needed. It was at that point that God really placed on my heart that when I got out of this difficulty that I needed to help other pregnant women who have no way to provide for their babies. So, Baby's Bundle was born.
MM - You have worn many hats during your career. Do you thing your resume helped you with deciding to start Baby's Bundle?
Having been a soldier and a logistics executive officer for the military, this definitely gave me the business experience, dedication and discipline to start Baby's Bundle. That along with my husband's incredible entrepreneurship and marketing experience has contributed to the success, so far for our organization. Starting a non-profit is just like starting a for profit business. It takes incredible business sense, passion and a dedication to your mission.
MM - Do you think your involvement is Baby's Bundle had changed you as a mother?
Now that we are really starting to deliver bundles to mothers in need, I am seeing just how bad it could have been for me. It has made me appreciate the incredible blessings God has given me as a mother. I appreciate the stress free time I have with my children not having to worry about how I will buy clothes or essentials for my girls. Those things distract your attention from your family and it's what these women deal with daily. I never take for granted not having to worry about that anymore.
MM - What is your parenting motto?
This too shall pass...
