What is your most memorable moment of
becoming a mom?
The first time Elijah came running to me
with the biggest grin on his face and his arms open
wide. It's the most incredible feeling to have your
child come and lay their head on you with complete trust
and even though they may not be able to say "I love
you," you know it and I'm so grateful to be able to
experience that.

You have two young kids and another on
the way - are you ready for three?
I'm a little scared to have 3 kids!
Elijah is 3 and Israel will be 20 months when this next
baby is born so I'm a little concerned about being able
to give each child the attention they deserve, but I'm
sure it will all work itself out.

Why did you decide to train in midwifery?
I'm a big advocate of natural birth and
breastfeeding and I think it's important that every
woman know that she is powerful and strong and totally
capable of giving birth any way she wants. I think birth
is magical and I would feel so blessed to be able to
participate in an event that will be one of the most
important events of a family's life.

You were nominated by a friend, and are
often surrounded by them! What advice can you give to
first time moms about making new friends?
Join some mothers groups! It's an easy
way to find friends for your children, get out of the
house, and there's very little pressure. If you walk up
and decide that you're not ready to step out of your
safety zone, then you can keep walking but at least you
got out of the house! Places like the Wiggly Play
Center, or even the play area of McDonalds or Toys R Us
are also great places to meet other moms. You already
know you have something in common...Kids!

What is the best advice you received
about being a mom or raising a child?
Relax. Rest when your baby rests and
don't worry about the dishes!
MB -
If you could give another mom or
expectant mom one piece of advice, what would it be?
Listen to your instincts and do what
feels right for you and your baby. Don't let others
make you feel bad about what you think is best for your
baby. This is your baby and as the mother, I'm sure you
will always do what you think is best for your baby.
MB -
Do you have a motto you would like to
share with other moms?
Don't worry, be happy! Okay, I know it's
a song but it's totally true and there are some days
when I have to say to myself that it's not worth getting
mad, I just need to laugh it off.

What is your favorite MetroMoms event to
date and why?
I love the StrollArt events! I feel so
much more comfortable going with a bunch of other moms
and kids so that if mine are fussy or loud, I'm not the
only one. It's so fun getting the tours and I learn so
much more because of the guides. Plus I feel like I'm
doing a "grown up" event and Elijah has so much fun too!
